The Ax60+ Data Output Module (DOM) is designed to enable real-time data communication from your Ax60+ system to external platforms.

Acting as a gateway, the DOM connects the Ax60+ to building management systems (BMS) and other monitoring platforms, allowing continuous access to gas level data for analysis, reporting, and system control.

Retrofit and system integration

The DOM can be retrofitted to any existing Ax60+ installation, providing a straightforward way to extend system functionality.

It enables communication with building management systems using either RS485 MODBUS RTU or up to four independent 4–20 mA current loop outputs. These industry-standard outputs allow compatibility with a wide range of third-party systems, including those used for data logging, monitoring, and analysis.

By integrating the DOM, operators gain access to real-time gas readings, alarm conditions, and system status, supporting both immediate response and post-event analysis.

Integration with building management systems

Building management systems play a critical role in controlling and maintaining safe environments. By integrating the Ax60+ system through the DOM, gas monitoring data can be used to trigger automated responses.

In the event of a gas leak, a connected BMS can initiate actions such as ventilation, isolation of gas supply, closing of internal doors, and alerting personnel, reducing reliance on manual intervention and improving response time.

Without this integration, there is a risk that contaminated air could be circulated or that ventilation systems may not respond appropriately to hazardous conditions.

Connecting the Ax60+ to a BMS helps reduce risk, improve response times, and support safer overall building operation.

4-20 mA analog outputs

The DOM converts gas readings from the Ax60+ sensors into standard 4-20 mA analog signals for use with compatible external systems.

  • 4 mA represents 0% of the sensor’s measurement range
  • 20 mA represents 100% of the sensor’s full-scale range

These signals allow gas concentrations to be interpreted and monitored within third-party systems, supporting remote visibility and control.

RS485 MODBUS RTU communication

The RS485 MODBUS RTU interface provides a digital communication option for integration with advanced monitoring and control systems.

Through this interface, the DOM can transmit detailed system information, including:

  • Sensor alarm status
  • Alarm levels (including TWA, high, and high-high for CO₂)
  • Overall system status
  • Real-time gas readings for each connected sensor

Scalable for larger installations

For larger facilities, multiple DOM units can be networked together. Up to 16 modules can be connected, allowing a single BMS channel to monitor up to 64 sensor units.

Both 4-20 mA and MODBUS RTU connections can be implemented quickly, providing remote visibility of gas levels and system status. The DOM operates as a self-contained unit and connects via CAT5 cabling.

Once integrated, the system enables continuous monitoring and detailed trend analysis, with data such as:

  • Gas concentration levels (e.g. 5000 ppm CO₂)
  • Alarm conditions (e.g. AL2 triggered)
  • Fault status (e.g. sensor fault indication)

Can the AX60+ Alarm Unit be mounted outside, and is it weather tight?

The Ax60+ Alarm/Strobe Unit is IP55 rated.

IP means Ingress Protection, the 2 numbers after indicate to what level the unit is able to protect itself against dust, moisture, liquids and accidental contact. The IP rating for this unit is broken down below;

  • 5 – Solids – Dust Protected. Limited ingress of dust permitted. Will not interfere with operation of the equipment. 2 to 8 hours.
  • 5 – Water – Protected against jets of water. Limited ingress permitted.

However, the unit is Not Waterproof/Weatherproof for long periods of time, and in direct sunlight the UV light will fade the label on the unit. The Alarm Unit can be mounted outside if it has sufficient protection from the elements.

How do I disable the Alarm sounders?

All relevant Ax60+ document information can be found on the Ax60+ product page.

There are two potential reasons for the Ax60+ to show a FLT16 code on the screen, these are:

  1. The sensor unit requires zero and span calibration adjustment (see the service manual for guidance on carrying out this process)
  2. The CO2 sensor alarm directions have been incorrectly set.

If your unit is displaying a Flt16, first attempt a zero and span calibration adjustment then power cycle the device. If this is not possible or the issue is not resolved, check to see if it has been correctly configured as detailed below.

The Ax60+ is primarily a breathing air device, as such, the CO2 sensor unit alarms are restricted to only trigger in the ‘high-going’ direction. If a user changes the alarm ‘going’ to ‘low-going’ a FLT16 will ensue.

To clear this fault the following steps should be followed (be aware that only a short period of non-alarm time is available so you’ll need to be quick!!):

  1. Power cycle the Ax60+ (turn it off and on again)
  2. Wait for the sensors display on the screen
  3. Press the Accept/Test button briefly to silence any alarms. Press and hold the top two buttons (Cancel and cycle) until the top level menu is reached.
  4. Press the cycle button six times (until sensor config is shown)
  5. Press the Accept/Test button. Press the cycle button twice (Alarm direction is shown)Press the Accept/Test button. Select the sensor that had the alarm ‘going’
  6. changed (press cycle to move the arrow selector over until the relevant sensor is identified and press the Accept/. test button)
  7. Select the alarm that had the alarm ‘going’ changed
  8. (press cycle to move the arrow selector over until the relevant alarm is identified and press the Accept/test button)
  9. Change the alarm direction to ‘up’ (press the cycle button until the arrow selector points at the up arrow and press the Accept/test button)
  10. Press the cancel button five times until the sensors display on screen
  11. Acknowledge any faults displayed
  12. Power cycle the unit
What do I do if my Ax60+ Unit is in Alarm?

Stay out of the area, open all windows and doors to ventilate. Do not re-enter the area until the alarm condition stops and the reading on the display has returned to normal.

Have a suitably qualified person check the gas bottles/lines for leaks/frosting.

To silence the alarm, press the Accept/Test button.

My Ax60+ is displaying FLT06

FLT06 is displayed when the Ax60+ fails to initialise correctly. This often means that the sensor did warm up correctly and did not reach its operating temperature. This can happen when the environment around the Ax60+ is too cold.

Turning the device off and on again should clear the FLT06.

If your device has latching faults enabled, the fault will need to be acknowledged first, to acknowledge the fault, please see the above instructions for acknowledging latched alarms.

My Ax60+ sensor unit got wet and won’t stop alarming

The Ax60+ sensor units are IP55 rated, which means they are water-resistant, but not waterproof.

If the Ax60+ sensor unit gets soaked, it can sometimes cause it to go into alarm in error.

Powering down the sensor unit and giving it time to dry out should solve the problem and the Ax60+ should return to normal operation.

What height should my sensors be installed?

How to silence and acknowledge latched alarms on the Analox Ax60+

The Ax60+ systems have latched alarms as standard however does have the option of disabling alarm latching. It is our hope that the following information will help to avoid confusion when silencing and acknowledging alarms.

Latched Alarms

These will not clear unless acknowledged. For example, if the target gas level increases beyond the alarm threshold, the device will go into alarm and remain like this until the alarm has been acknowledged.

Non-Latched Alarms

These will clear without acknowledgement. For example, if the target gas level increases beyond the alarm threshold, the unit will go into alarm but once the gas returns to safe limits the alarm automatically clears.

Both Latched and Non-Latched alarms can be muted with a single press of the Accept/Test button, but in order to acknowledge a latched alarm the user must first cycle through the display until an ‘*’ is seen, then press and hold the Accept/Test button for 3 seconds (resulting in the ‘*’ changing into a ‘>’.

Is the Ax60+ backwards compatible with the Ax60?

There is some backwards compatibility:

  • Ax60+ CO2 sensor units CAN be used with both Ax60 and Ax60+ central displays.
  • Ax60 sensor units CAN ONLY be used with Ax60 central displays.
  • Oxygen sensors CAN ONLY be used on the Ax60+ central displays.
