SUB NOx

Portable Post-Fire NOx Monitoring for Confined Spaces

The SUB NOx is a purpose-built monitoring system designed to detect and continuously measure nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), and combined oxides of nitrogen (NOx) in confined spaces following fire incidents.

Originally developed for submarine applications, the SUB NOx enables rapid deployment atmospheric monitoring in environments where toxic combustion gases may remain trapped after thermal events.

Compact, rugged, and easy to operate, the SUB NOx delivers accurate monitoring in environments where personnel safety is critical.

Additional Information

Why Monitor NOx?

NOx gases are highly toxic combustion byproducts generated when nitrogen and oxygen react at high temperatures. Unlike carbon monoxide, NOx is heat-generated and can remain present in confined spaces long after a fire has been extinguished.

Exposure risks include:

  • Airway irritation
  • Persistent coughing
  • Wheezing and shortness of breath
  • Lung inflammation
  • Potentially life-threatening respiratory damage at high concentrations

In enclosed environments with limited ventilation, NOx can remain trapped for extended periods, creating significant re-entry risks for personnel.

Portable or Fixed Installation

Deploy rapidly as a portable unit or integrate into fixed monitoring applications.

Continuous Pump Sampling

Provides active atmospheric sampling whenever the unit is in operation.

Advanced Sensor Technology

Utilizes a unique dual electrochemical sensor design for each gas to provide:
High accuracy at low-level measurements
A wider overall detection range
Sensor protection at elevated concentrations

Rugged Industrial Design

  • IP65-rated enclosure
  • Pressure- and temperature-compensated
  • Low-light visible display
  • Designed for demanding environments

Purpose-Built NOx Monitoring

The SUB NOx was specifically designed to address the challenge of monitoring hazardous nitrogen oxides in confined environments following fire incidents.

When personnel safety depends on understanding atmospheric conditions quickly and accurately, the SUB NOx delivers a dedicated monitoring solution built for the task.
